Lake Hume Tourist Park
Your ideal destination for your next holiday

Hume Dam

The Hume Dam is situated just below the junction of the Murray and Mitta Mitta Rivers on the Albuty Wodonga border, just meters from Lake Hume Tourist Park.  Construction of the wall was proposed and started in 1919.  It was an engineering project so big it captured the imagination of the country, taking 17 years to build.  When completed in 1936, it was the biggest dam in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the world's largest.  The waters from Lake Hume supply a 50 megawatt hydro-electric station and almost four million megalitres of water per year to irrigation schemes and individual pumpers accross three states.

Bethanga Bridge

The Bethanga Bridge straddles the Hume Weir between NSW and Victoria.  It is a 750 metre long steel truss bridge that was built in 1930 to carry the Riverina Highway the then newly constructed Hume Weir.  It replaced two other bridges that were about to be submerged by the rising waters of the dam.

Ettamogah

Ettamogah Pub is 12 kms north-east of Albury, on the Hume Highway.  Established in 1987 the pub was made an exact replica of a cartoon pub drawn by Ken Maynard, complete with seemingly impossible design - outward leaning walls and verandahs, a tree that stands in the middle through two floors, and a jalopy on the roof.

There is also the Ettomagah Wildlife Sanctuary, established to care for sick, injured or orphaned animals and Cooper's Ettamogah Winery.
